Breakfast - small bowl of oats and a banana
Morning snacks - an orange, 2 handfuls of soya crisps and half a hummus & cucumber sandwich
Lunch - half a wholegrain bread roll with vegan butter and half a small tub of blueberries, tomatoes and cashews
Afternoon snacks - another quarter of the sandwich and a slice of watermelon
Dinner - quinoa burger and grilled tofu with a spoonful of bean salad, spinach, tomatoes, capsicum and cucumber. BBQ sauce to serve otherwise it's a bit dry!
I'm going to set myself a challenge for tomorrow - NO soya crisps! They're too much like Pringles in the 'once you pop you just can't stop' sense. That crunch! That delicious crunch! It's worrying addictive and they're just so yum. Will pack one of my 'boring' cereal bars as a sub for tomorrow. Boooo. I also really need to stop with the bread soon...or at least cut down...need to think of something else I can bring for lunch that isn't a sandwich. All I can eat from the boat's buffet lunch is the bean salad and a bread roll - and soya crisps of course!
The whales were wonderful today. Not a whole lot of mugging but heaps of head lunges, pec slaps and breaching! The first breach of the day was from a whale in the distance, and we only heard the enormous crack of the animal hitting the water 5 seconds after it actually happened. Meaning of course that it was around 1.5km away, but it looked so much closer that it was bizarre to have such a gap between seeing and hearing the event. The cracks of the whales' pec slaps against the water were also quite something; they sounded like gunshots. It's incredible how far the sound can travel, and that's just in air - sound travels up to 4 times faster in water, and slaps/breaches/songs can be heard underwater several kilometres away from the source.
